Phase 2 // May-July 2010 PAPER CHASES UP AND DOWN, BACK AND FORTH Lendwirbel meets Annenviertel! 7 paper chases - surprises on the paths we tread every day The initiators of the Streetgallery and of Annenviertel! have cooked up something very special for the visitors for the time of the Lendwirbel. Due to their knowledge and experience in the area of Lend / Gries / Annenviertel 7 people have been invited to guide the participants of the chase to places of special and, first and foremost, very personal interest. To let oneself in for the perspectives of the people laying the trails opens up fresh perceptions, perspectives and interpretations of the urban space. Some legs of the chase are outdoors, at others interiors are turned inside out and the paper chasers are invited to the borders and thresholds of the known. Some tours are apt for exploring things on your own; others can be better experienced collectively. So let’s go to the different starting points and get the chase going! Where do I have to go, where is the next checkpoint and what to expect there? On which track will they lead me, the people who have come up with this tour? | The area around the Graz Train Station can be well explored from an unusual perspective – by ones and twos, or in a group. To take a break somewhere at a corner you like and take the atmosphere in is more than desirable. Perhaps you can socialize now and then but this is no must. Or just sit down at the starting point and keep an eye on what is going on. Information on how to move along is also available there. To bring along a camera or a notepad is also not the worst idea. | 1680. The plague is raging in the historical Murvorstadt claiming its toll – among the victims the postman, the police officer, children, men, and women. In the densely populated alleys of the Murvorstadt the plague spots are spreading quickly. 12 residents of the Murvorstadt want to leave the bog. They want to enter the fortified downtown Graz where everything is cleaner and safer. But the guard doesn’t let them in just like that. Corruption is escalating. | The movie classic Stalker, directed by Andrei Tarkovskii, deals with the search for a mysterious room where reportedly all wishes come true. Eventually, arriving in the magic room after a long expedition, nobody dares to express a wish. The expedition route in the area Annenstraße / Lend district leads to four individual search locations.
