On the occasion of "Project(OR) Art
Fair - platform for contemporary art spaces" < rotor > shows
a selection of artists from the Graz scene which is titled "Prophets
and Smugglers". It features artists who work with different media
ranging from graphics and comics to staged photography and objects. All
contributions deal with breaks in reality and the creation of new realities.
Reality is seen as a kind of raw material which has to be transformed
into a different – if not to say higher – state with the means
of art. The foreseeing of a new reality can be understood as an act of
prophecy but, to tell the truth, it is often a process of smuggling topics
and ideas from one context into another.
