* * * * * * * * * * * * * * The exhibition is part of a thematic series focusing on mysterious creatures that appear across different eras and cultures. They accompany transformation, challenge the familiar, and can encourage us to embrace uncertainty and change. The second part focuses on a being that appears in mythological narratives as a colossal land animal. In Báyò Akómoláfé’s work, whose writings inspired the series of exhibitions, it is Behemoth.
The artworks in the exhibition navigate between heaviness and transformation, between grounding and oversaturation, as well as between order and carnivalesque dissolution. The land animal is conceived as a catalyst for pressure, inertia, and resistance, from which other forms of relation, action, and perception can be derived.
