An empty retirement home in Augsburg has
become the space of negotiation for claiming recognition of a cosmopolitan
reality in our society. What was a keen idea to start off with has grown
since and now appears beyond the walls of the building.
The Social Sculpture creates habitats: not only for 65 people, who are
called asylum seekers by the government and were allocated to this integrated
refugee´s accommodation. But also for guests in 16 individually
styled hotel- and hostel-rooms. For interpersonal cooperation in open-access
training workshops and interdisciplinary used studios. As a stage for
interaction of artistic expressions. As an intercultural meeting point
at the café/bar. As a cosmopolitically organised kitchen. And as
a lobby for all kinds of travellers.
