Driton Selmani
does drawings. In his works he includes aspects of his immediate surroundings
in Kosovo as well as manifold references to the facets of life in general.
For Thursday evening he has prepared a two-part presentation. In the first
part he is going to show photos, partly shot by himself, partly from the
internet. These photographs describe his immediate surrounding, his village,
his land, up to global phenomena he is concerned with. He sees these photographs
as an inspiration for his graphic work, which he is going to present in
the second part of his lecture. Then the relations between the photos
and the drawings will become clear to us, and we can feel the subtle irony
emitted by his works.
Driton Selmani, born 1987 in Ferizaj, lives and works in Prishtina and
Doganaj, Kosovo. In May 2011, he is a stipendiary of the Cultural City
Network Graz.
