is present with a series of photographs. During this evening she will
be also presented as filmmaker. The following three films will be screened:
Image Caption (2021, 6 min, documentary, Turkish): This documentary takes
viewers a to a rooftop of an apartment building in Diyarbakir, overlooking
the city's fortress and surrounding neighbourhoods, which face demolition
and reconstruction. The disembodied voice-over gradually finds its place
in the film's visual narrative, reflecting the evolving relationship between
voice and image.
A Tribune Story (2021, 27 min, documentary, Turkish): Co-directed by Aylin
Kizil and Fatma Celik, this film offers an intimate look at “Resistance”,
the fan club of Amedspor, the football team representing one of Turkey’s
most politically volatile cities, Diyarbakir.
Looking Back at Me (2022, 3 min, Turkish): In this short film, Kizil explores
the act of seeing, using photographs taken during social events. The film
challenges the passive role of the 'observed,' inviting the audience to
contemplate a dialogic, layered form of seeing.
The exhibition Sediment is organised in cooperation with Loading Archive,
Diyarbakir. In spring 2024, Dicle Bestas worked on the project in the
frame of the Styria Artist-in-Residence (St.A.i.R.) programme.
Sediment is part of the project Art Space Unlimited co-funded by the European
Union.
