Zine Presentation & Resistance Quilt-Workshop

The evening will start with the presentation of the zine
“Practising Solidarity” by Hannah Langkafel,
followed by a
discussion with the audience.
The zine introduces certain transnational
feminist groups from Vienna.
Their respective definitions of transnational feminist solidarity will
be
explained and put in relation to various feminist theories of solidarity.
The zine deals with a number of questions, such as the difference
between charity and solidarity or challenges of solidarity. Finally, tools
for practice, advice and visions of the different groups are presented.
In the concluding discussion, questions
about the zine can be answered
and experiences around the practice of solidarity can be shared.

The zine presentation will be followed by the Resistance Quilt
Workshop. The Resistance Quilt project builds on the monthly
demonstrations against femicide that are organized in Graz by a
collective of local feminist groups. For these demonstrations, bed
sheet banners are painted to mark each femicide that is committed
in Austria. The quilt will combine these banners with ideas for changes
that need to be made to stop femicide from happening.
Everyone who wants to end gender
based violence is very welcome to
join this workshop by Ren Aldridge and help create the
first section
of this huge, collective Resistance Quilt. The quilt will become part
of
future demonstrations and creative actions against femicide.
There are enough materials available,
but you are welcome to
bring a favourite fabric or similar. Previous experience is not necessary.

which is one of the organizers of the demonstrations each last Thursday
of the month to draw attention to the femicides in Austria.
