Participants:
Irfan Hošić, dircetor of KRAK Centre for Contemporary Culture, Bihać, and curator of the exhibition STRANCI
Aida Šehović, artist, Sarajevo, involved in the exhibition STRANCI
Vedran Džihić, senior researcher at the Austrian Institut for International Affairs, Vienna
Conception and moderation: Armina Galijaš, senior scientist, Centre for Southeast European Studies at the University of Graz

One of the starting points for the STRANCI exhibition, currently on display at <rotor>, is the Bosnian-Herzegovinian diaspora. The war in the 1990s in particular led many people to leave the country.

The panel discussion on 14 November will examine the concept of homelessness from different perspectives. Is homelessness a state of liberation – or of loss? How are ‘home’ and ‘homeland’ linked, and what significance do these terms have in an age of constant movement, migration and global networking?

Why are we talking particularly in Graz, a city that has always had a special meaning for many people from the Balkans, about the feeling of not being fully at home anywhere? Together, we want to discuss how personal experiences, political realities and aesthetic forms of expression change the concept of home.
