* * * * * * * * * * * * * On 17 December, < rotor > invites you to
celebrate the end of 2025. It is the last week of the STRANCI exhibition
featuring works by artists who all have close biographical ties to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
It is a great pleasure to be able to present a new small book in this
context, which goes back to the double exhibition EX-SITU | IN-SITU, which
began in Sarajevo. Some of the artists and cultural workers involved will
be present, we will review images from the exhibition, and there will
be a discussion based on the Bosnian mountain newt and the greater horseshoe
bat, to which the exhibitions were dedicated and which graphic designer
Margit Steidl has depicted on the book cover.
Darko Aleksovski, an artist from North Macedonia, is currently based in
Graz as part of the St.A.i.R. / Styria Artist-in-Residence programme.
He participated in both exhibitions in Sarajevo and Graz and will be present
at this evening from 5 p.m. with an embroidery station that offers
opportunities for participation.
And what's more, the Graz band softpillows – Lazar Radovanovic, Edvin
Smajic and Alex Rottenfußer – will delight us with their music, which
has been described as follows: “The band pays homage to the heart-wrenching
Balkan melos, the raw pathos of a smoky kafana, tempered by the sleek,
self-aware irony of ex-Yu new wave. Their songs about love, life, death,
spring, and boredom drift between sincere nostalgia and cheeky satire.
Each song feels like a toast to feeling too much and reveling in it. And
as the final chord and the last drop of rakija fade, we are left somewhere
between a tear and a laugh, exactly where softpillows want us to be.” *
