HERE AND ELSEWHERE is a research-oriented project which consists of two stages: a reseach-based visit in November 2016 and a lecure and workshop with the students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo in April 2017.

The first stage of the project was based on exploration of urban issues and complex city structures of some of the main historical sites in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the focus on the Austro-Hungarian and Socialist periods as well as the current post-socialist condition.

As part of the second stage of the project Sabine Bitter and Helmut Weber will give a public lecture titled "Unsettling the Image" at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo. The artists will present some of their major projects realized over the last few years with a special emphasis on several substantial projects on the territory of the former Yugoslavia.

This stage of HERE AND ELSEWHERE/Nothing To Be Done is directed towards an intensive collaboration with post graduate students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo who will, alongside the artists and curators, perform parts of the Samuel Beckett’s drama Waiting for Godot at several selected locations in Sarajevo (i.e. Skenderija, Collegium Artisticum, History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Memorial Park Vrace).
This will act as a starting point for a reflection on the contemporary urban condition and sum up the previously conducted research. The opening line of Waiting for Godot "Nothing to be done" is translated into an active attitude that sets the question "What's to be Done"?.
